A Baldo Baldi estate pipe for 100 bucks? Probably not.. ;-)

Just imagine this beauty in your hands!

Just imagine this beauty in your hands!

Italian pipe maker Baldo Baldi is known for perfection, very clear and straightforward, but sometimes unusual pipe designs, – and not exactly for cheap smoking pipes.

Usually a Baldo Baldi on Ebay (if there are any at all) will set you back anywhere between 700 and several thousand bucks. So when I saw one in pretty decent condition listed at 100 dollars I almost got excited myself.. :)

Well, of course it is an auction, not a fixed price pipe sale – so you will most likely have to bid quite a bit more before this beauty belongs to you and may be caressed by your fingers and lips! ;-)

If you want to make this one yours or have a closer look at it (and surprisingly a few more Baldis that are listed at the moment) on our Baldo Baldi estate pipe listing page.

Very nice grain and in very decent condition, it seems

What can one say?  A Baldi is a Baldi.  The best wood, tight perfect straight grain with growth rings. . . impeccable design . . . wonderful craftsmanship . . . light weight . . . great beauty . . . and a pipe maker with the highest of reputations.

This pipe is nearly pristine . . . just a few light signs of tooth chatter on the under side of the bit and a tiny little ding on the inside edge of the rim, at about 6 o’clock. Otherwise, the wood is perfect.

All stampings are on the under side of the shank:  script B. Baldi with crowned       pipe, HANDMADE IN ITALY for Carmignani ROMA

This pipe has been cleaned by it previous owner but, as with any estate pipe, the buyer should clean it to his/her personal satisfaction before smoking.

longest dimension:  6”

bowl height:  1-7/8”

rim width:  1-7/8”

tobacco chamber diameter:  7/8”

tobacco chamber depth:  1-3/8”

Happy bidding and good puffs all day!

Saturday night pipe: Poul Hansen danish estate pipe

Wood, bone, a Danish pipe maker: that combo always gets me.

Wood, bone, a Danish pipe maker: that combo always gets me.

Sneaky pipe, this. Showed up on our Poul Winslow collector pipe listing page – but is actually made by Poul Hansen (because Ebay search algo sucks… ;-) )

But it cought my eye, the auction stands at 11 $ at the moment  – so this is our Danish estate pipe of the day! Beauty, isn’t she?

Mid-range estate pipe: “Family Era” Sasieni Four Dot CANTERBURY Poker, Natural

sasieni-family-era-estate-pipeOne thing I like about this type of pipe: you do not need a pipe holder and can put them down on the table without the damn thing rolling to the side and spilling ashes and embers all over the place… ;-)

Apart from that: check out seller’s description below – it seems to be a nice catch and worth a bid! Currently stands at about 70 bucks.

You can find this offer and other Sasieni pipes on our Sasieni estate pipes listing page

Quote from seller’s description:

“Family Era” Sasieni Four Dot CANTERBURY Poker, Natural, Great Condition!

You are bidding on a lovely, Family-Era Sasieni CANTERBURY Poker in their natural finish, similar to Dunhill’s Root finish of the same time period. This is a Pre-transition, 1946 – 1979 pipe, made while the quality was still legendary. No teethmarks, some tiny dings on the rim, but that’s it.

The pipe sits well on a table top and has some lovely baby blue dots to contemplate. Just a great, old smoke.

The pipe is
5-7/8″ long.
the bowl is 1-7/8″ high
the bowl rim is 1-5/16″ OD
the bowl is 13/16″ ID
the smoking chamber is 1-5/8″ deep.
pipe weighs 38 grams.
All stampings are all crisp.

Measurements are as close as I can get by ruler and my old eyes, if 1/32″ discrepancy is a concern to you best to pass on this.

Cheapskate Wednesday – less than a buck: Iwan Ries Danish Tobacco Pipe and Medico Ventilator Pipe

Wednesday is cheapskate day on DailyEstatePipe! Rejoice penny pinchers. Pipes for less than a buck!

Dirt cheap and at least this strange "Ventilator" pipe is worth a try!

Dirt cheap and at least this strange “Ventilator” pipe is worth a try!

Find these and many more on our page with cheap estate pipe listings that are currently less than a buck on Ebay!

Fineprint: as usual we are not the seller(s), we just pick offers from Ebay that seem to be interesting. Extremely low priced pipes might be a great catch – or expensive firewood. Up to you! :)

That said, I came across this listing: 2 (two) pipes on auction, currently less than a buck! A slim and “ok” looking Iwan Ries pipe, and a rather unconventional “Medico Ventilator” pipe with a metal part in the stem that has openings to mix the smoke with cool air…

It’s an auction, so you might end up paying a bit more than a buck, but looks like a steal to me – this funny Venti pipe alone is an eyebrow raiser.

From seller’s description:

Offering 2 used tobacco pipes. One says “Iwan Ries Denmark, 218” the other one says “Medico Ventilator” both look to be in good condition. Sold as a pair and “as is”
