Mid-range estate pipe: “Family Era” Sasieni Four Dot CANTERBURY Poker, Natural

sasieni-family-era-estate-pipeOne thing I like about this type of pipe: you do not need a pipe holder and can put them down on the table without the damn thing rolling to the side and spilling ashes and embers all over the place… ;-)

Apart from that: check out seller’s description below – it seems to be a nice catch and worth a bid! Currently stands at about 70 bucks.

You can find this offer and other Sasieni pipes on our Sasieni estate pipes listing page

“Family Era” Sasieni Four Dot CANTERBURY Poker, Natural, Great Condition!

You are bidding on a lovely, Family-Era Sasieni CANTERBURY Poker in their natural finish, similar to Dunhill’s Root finish of the same time period. This is a Pre-transition, 1946 – 1979 pipe, made while the quality was still legendary. No teethmarks, some tiny dings on the rim, but that’s it.

The pipe sits well on a table top and has some lovely baby blue dots to contemplate. Just a great, old smoke.

The pipe is
5-7/8″ long.
the bowl is 1-7/8″ high
the bowl rim is 1-5/16″ OD
the bowl is 13/16″ ID
the smoking chamber is 1-5/8″ deep.
pipe weighs 38 grams.
All stampings are all crisp.

Measurements are as close as I can get by ruler and my old eyes, if 1/32″ discrepancy is a concern to you best to pass on this.

Tuesday Workhorse pipe: Savinelli Autograph 1998 Pipe of the Year

Nice Savinelli pipe for your everyday smoke!

Nice Savinelli pipe for your everyday smoke!

Savinelli pipes – usually no fuss, nothing fancy, decent quality, friendly pricing. Nothing overly “creative”, but great everyday smoking pipes. This pipe is no exception.

From the “Autograph” series, it was “Pipe of the Year” in 1998 (yay, long time ago, we were still young then… LOL – errrr, of course we still are!)

Wants? You can find the pipe offer on our Savinelli estate pipe sales/auction page. Maybe you have to browse to page 2, the listings are ordered by “time ending soonest” by default, and this one just went up!

Quote from seller’s description:

Very lightly smoked Savinelli Autograph 1998 Pipe of the Year. Great pot shape. Hairline scratch on stem, a few swirl scratches on the rim and a minuscule amount of rim darkening, otherwise perfect. Measures 5.5 inches by 1.75 inches. Ask questions if you have any.

Great value: Charatan big bowl everyday smoking pipe!

charatan big bowl estate pipeCharatan pipes are know to provide great value for reasonable prices – esp. if you can get your paws on an estate pipe in decent condition. This seems to be such a case:

Beautiful classic form, nothing too fancy, but one of those that really feel comfortable in your hand.

And not too small (we are not cig smokers, are we?) either.

And the price seems to be right as well – as I post this the auction stands at 60 $

Quote from the seller:

This Charatan’s Make Special pipe is in excellent estate condition. It has been lightly used, and there is some char around the rim of the bowl as visible in the photo but otherwise has no visible imperfections. It is approximately 6.5″ long with a 2″ high bowl. The bowl is especially large with a 1.75″ diameter and 1″ bore. A very fine and beautiful handmade Charatan.

Depending on when you read this – hurry up and check out our Charatan estate pipe listing page, if the offer is still up (there might be other great Charatans up for grabs as well!)
